Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nigeria has described as misleading reports that Nigerians and other African students are being coerced into fighting for Russia in exchange for visa extensions.

The Russian Embassy, in a statement released by the Information Unit, this Wednesday insists the reports from the American news agency, Bloomberg was targeted at damaging the Russian-Nigeria educational cooperation by spreading falsehood on numerous scholarship and grant applicants and their partners.

It further clarified that there have been no reports on difficulties by African students in obtaining necessary documentation to continue their stay in the country.

The Russian Embassy in Nigeria also commended the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Association of Nigerian Students in Moscow for being prompt in countering the misinformation aimed at undermining the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
