Ondo Poll: PDP resolves controversy, appoints chairman, DGs

By Fly Cable News

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, has said that the crisis that emanated from the constitution of the campaign council ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state had been resolved.

It said that the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party had approved the principal officers that would drive and coordinate the campaign of the party and its gubernatorial candidate, Agboola Ajayi.

In a statement made available to The Guardian, yesterday, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Kennedy Peretei, said that the former PDP National Vice Chairman (South-West), Eddy Olafeso, would serve as the Chairman of the campaign council, while the erstwhile Chairman of the party in the state, Clement Faboyede, had been appointed as Director-General.

IN another development, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, yesterday, handed over 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies in the state to boost the security architecture of the state.

Aiyedatiwa said that the new vehicles would further enhance security operations in the state.

The governor, who reflected on the legacy of his predecessor, the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who was instrumental in establishing the South-West Security Network, also known as the Amotekun Corps, promised to ensure that the enduring peace in the state endured.

He, however, stressed the need for security to be increased during election periods, noting that there is always a surge in criminal activities during such times.

On his part, Secretary to the State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, emphasised the current administration’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of security agencies within Ondo State.

Also, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Gbenga Atiba, and the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, hailed the governor for providing the vehicles despite the high exchange rates, assuring that they will be used strictly for security purposes.
