The Concern Lagos Indigenes in Lagos Island have denounced the “unwarranted barrage of insults and abuses” directed at His Royal Majesty, Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Osuolale Aremu Akiolu, by one Bisoye Oshodi, Balogun Eko.
The Indigenes expressed shock and disappointment at what it described as the “childish, unwarranted, and unacceptable behaviour” and maintained and defended the Oba of Lagos, the real custodian of Lagos, correcting Bisoye Oshodi, Balogun Eko’s claims.
The Oshodi’s behaviour undermines the royal institution of the people of Lagos. Our custodian, norms, values, and culture are being taken for granted.
According to the group, “this is a seismic cultural insult and one that holds a significant bad taste in the history of the people of Isale Eko and Lagos State.” One of the core values of the Isale Eko culture is the reverence and respect you demonstrate to your elders. The cornerstone of what you are taught right from year dot. To have demonstrated such a grand-scale insult to Oba of Lagos is an insult to all people of Lagos State.”
“Our Oba is the paramount ruler of Lagos State, and our traditional hereditary most be scaredly protected, not out of place in correcting the erroneous remarks and disappointing comments in a circulating video clip of Bisoye Oshodi, (Balogun Eko), who described the Oba as a “useless ruler.”.
The group warned Bisoye Oshodi (Balogun Eko) to cease insulting the Oba, stating that such actions would be considered an “affront on the palace.”
