Tinubu Aware of Nigerians’ Struggles, Actively Engaging in FCT – Orji Kalu
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is conscious of the hardships and suffering faced by Nigerians. He emphasized that the president is committed to ensuring that citizens experience the benefits of democracy.
During an appearance on Telivision, Kalu refuted claims that Tinubu is unaware of the people’s struggles. He mentioned that the president sometimes drives around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at night.
“The President understands that Nigerians are hungry and suffering. He is familiar with the streets and does not isolate himself. He is courageous and moves around in his car at night, regardless of the risks,” Senator Kalu said.
Addressing his relationship with President Tinubu, Kalu noted that he has never had any issues with him. He recalled setting aside his ambition for the Senate Presidency at Tinubu’s request, although he ultimately voted for former Zamfara Governor Senator Abdulaziz Yari instead of the president’s preferred candidate, Godswill Akpabio, who went on to win.
“I have never had a quarrel with the President. He asked me not to run, and I complied. However, I voted for Yari, and I have no regrets about that decision,” Orji Kalu added.
