PRP Urges Tinubu to Prioritize Citizens’ Welfare in Policy Revisions

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has urged President Bola Tinubu to reassess his policies and develop a governance framework that prioritizes the welfare of the citizens.

In a statement on Tuesday, National Chairman Falalu Bello called on the President to adopt homegrown policies that truly reflect the realities faced by the populace, rather than relying on externally imposed measures that hinder progress.

Bello criticized the dual policies of currency devaluation and subsidy removal, stating that they have caused significant hardship for Nigerians. He also challenged Vice President Kashim Shettima’s claim that there are no alternatives to these detrimental policies, emphasizing that such views contradict basic economic principles that advocate for exploring various solutions to socio-economic issues.

He expressed concern that the government has failed to provide tangible relief for the population, citing continued extravagant spending and questionable economic statistics that do little to alleviate suffering.

Bello called for a review of the current electricity tariff structure to create a fair system that protects the poor and the middle class. He urged the President to move beyond mere rhetoric in advancing the Compressed Natural Gas initiative as a sustainable energy solution and to reduce borrowing rates.

“It is crucial that we act quickly. Our nation is at a critical point, and time is running out for meaningful intervention. Mr. President, it’s time to take decisive action for the future of our nation and rescue our people from despair,” he concluded.
