The new Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has announced the abolition of the 18-year age benchmark for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He also hinted at potential reviews to the country’s education policy.
However, Alausa confirmed that the federal government’s decision to invalidate over 22,700 degree certificates from “fake” universities in neighboring Togo and Benin Republic would stand. The minister made the announcement during his inaugural press conference in Abuja on Wednesday. Further details are forthcoming.
