Former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) (South-West), Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, has come hard on the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress ( APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, telling him to go for a tutorial on public address ethos.

Ogundipe, who was referring to constant outbursts of Ganduje in recent times, said as an elderly person, he needed to bridle his tongue and behave not like the uncultured.
Recall that after the APC’s victory in the gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo States, the APC national chairman, according to Ogundipe, “has been saying jargons.”

Ganduje has said the plot to take over Oyo and Osun states by the APC was on, stressing that the elections in the two states were free and fair.

However, Ogundipe asked, “Which is free and fair? Is it the elections that are a mere charade conducted by the compromised INEC you call free and fair”?

Ogundipe described Ganduje as a bad model, adding that in a society with standards, such a character should be cooling his feet in a correctional center.

His words, “Ganduje is a bad model. In a society with standards, such a character should be cooling his feet in a correctional center, or how do we describe a National Chairman who is bracingly toying with the peace, security, and unity of a country like Nigeria? Being a Chairman of a ruling party shouldn’t be a license to talk carelessly; afterward, Nobody is above the law. Ganduje should be tamed.

“If the APC will determine the outcome of an election that is about two years away, then Nigeria’s democracy is far from free and fair.”

In a similar tone, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, had reacted to the vituperations of Ganduje, describing the former Kano State governor as a threat to democracy, urging President Bola Tinubu to caution him.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by his media aide, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke responded to Dr Umar Ganduje’s pledge to seize Osun in 2026, made in reaction to the APC’s victory in last Saturday’s Ondo State governorship election.

Adeleke accused Ganduje of being discontent with the South West’s peace and unity behind President Tinubu and of attempting to stoke regional political tensions to undermine the president’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.

Describing Ganduje’s comments as anti-democratic, the Osun Governor said the APC national chairman’s stance was at odds with Tinubu’s democratic values.

“As a seasoned politician, one would have expected Dr Ganduje to understand that electoral outcomes are influenced by local factors. What applies in Edo and Ondo is not necessarily reflective of political realities in Osun State.

Voter behavior is shaped by local grievances and interests, not by external impositions,” Adeleke said.
