Lagos Concerned Residents has asked Lagos state government to reconstruct damaged infrastructure edifice City Hall building premier Local Government of Nigeria after destruction that befell the state during the #EndSARS protest.
Hoodlums on October 21 hijacked the protest and damaged infrastructural projects and development of Lagos state properties during the three days of violent protests in the city of Lagos with other iconic buildings arsons were destroyed.
A prominent ‘Lagos Concerned Citizen’ Mr Gbolahun Odunsanya , has called the attention of the state government on his verified Facebook handle, “Iyen Nice” to reconstruct the Lagos City Hall, vandalized during EndSARS protests, He appealed to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration to consider rebuilding the historic building because of its significance in preserving history and revitalizing public spaces.
While urging the Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration should leave a positive legacy by rebuilding the City Hall, symbolizing resilience and recovery. His personal connection to Lagos Island and the state’s history make it crucial for him to prioritize this project. Failure to do so could lead to future administrations neglecting the historic building.
According to him, rebuilding the City Hall would serve as a symbol of resilience and recovery, showing that the state can overcome adversity and emerge stronger. It’s an opportunity for the administration to create a lasting positive impact on the state’s infrastructure and history.
“The speaker emphasized the importance of leaving a lasting legacy, preserving Lagos’ history and cultural heritage, setting an example for future administrations, and showing appreciation for the community’s support.”
The rebuilding of Lagos City Hall is a significant project for the current administration in Lagos State, Nigeria. It aims to preserve the state’s history and culture, improve infrastructure, serve as an Office of Evidence Response Unit, create jobs, stimulate economic activity, attract investments, and serve as a symbol of progress. The modern City Hall will also incorporate advanced security features to ensure the safety of government officials, staff, and visitors., Odunsanya explained.
