Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Ifako Road and Bridge, Alapere Pedestrian Bridge
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially opened the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road and Bridge in the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area on Monday, alongside the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge.
Sharing the news on his Instagram, the governor said, “Today, I officially commissioned the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road and Bridge in Ifako Ijaiye. This vital project connects the Abiola/Ajayi/Ogba and Obawole/Iju-Ishaga communities.”
The road features a reinforced concrete bridge with retaining walls, carriageways, slip roads, walkways, and solar-powered street lighting. It also includes a drainage system to address long-standing flooding problems, offering protection to nearby communities.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that this is one of 36 newly completed roads and bridges being commissioned this week. He emphasized that the project is not only an infrastructure upgrade but also a catalyst for unity, economic growth, and improved connectivity.
The governor also inspected the newly rebuilt Alapere Pedestrian Bridge, which had previously been damaged by a heavy vehicle. The upgraded bridge now stands elevated with CCTV cameras for enhanced safety and durability. He urged the local community to take ownership of the bridge.
“We are delivering on our promise to conclude the year with impactful projects,” the governor stated. “Together, let’s continue working towards a Greater Lagos.”
