Soludo Calls Nigerian Church to Societal Redemption

By Fly Cable News

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has urged leaders of the Church of Nigeria’s Anglican Communion to reclaim their role as a moral compass in society.

Soludo made this assertion at the annual retreat of over 170 bishops in Awka this week, where he stressed the moral decadence in Nigerian society, a worrisome situation, especially among youths in pursuit of wealth.

In a release from Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor pointed out that the “get-rich-quick” mentality that has taken root among youths is fueling insecurity and making kidnapping a lucrative enterprise in the country.

Governor Soludo affirmed that many religious institutions have failed to question the origins of the wealth donated by their church members, thus tacitly endorsing unethical means of acquiring riches.

“When the church turns a blind eye to the source of donations, it loses its moral authority and becomes part of the problem,” Soludo avowed

The governor’s remark which was not merely a critique but also a roadmap for societal redemption, places the responsibility on church leaders to restore the right values and serve as models of integrity and righteousness.

It also calls for a return to the core tenets of faith that emphasized humility, honesty, service, and hard work over unbridled materialism and hedonism.
