Dissolve Cabinet Tonight, Hosts Valedictory Dinner
By Fly Cable News
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has announced the dissolution of his 25-member cabinet, effective tonight, January 10, 2025.
The formal announcement will take place during a Valedictory Dinner scheduled for 7 PM at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo.
Rumors about the dissolution had been circulating since Wednesday, with many anticipating a major reshuffle. A political insider, speaking anonymously to Saturday Vanguard, confirmed the plans, stating, “All the Commissioners are going. The Governor will appoint new people of his choice.”
Reports indicate that some outgoing commissioners had sensed the impending changes late last year.
Governor Eno had previously hinted at this move during a media briefing in September 2024, commemorating the state’s 37th anniversary. Responding to public calls for a cabinet overhaul, he remarked, “As a leader, you must know when to act and when not to act… Sixteen months into a new administration, you need to rejig the system.”
He also assured that the process would not be abrupt, emphasizing his intention to hold a Valedictory Dinner to appreciate the outgoing Executive Council (EXCO) members for their service.
This dissolution not only ends months of speculation but also signals a potential shift in the administration’s direction, distancing itself from perceived influences of the immediate past governor, Udom Emmanuel.
