New Ekiti CP Vows to Strengthen Security Measures

By Fly Cable News

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Joseph Eribo, has pledged to ensure the state remains secure, particularly along its borders, to prevent infiltration by criminals and bandits from neighboring areas.

Speaking to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, Eribo commended the state government for its proactive security initiatives, including the establishment of the Amotekun Corps, Agro Rangers, and Marshalls, which have bolstered efforts to combat insecurity.

Highlighting his commitment to a safer Ekiti, Eribo stated that crime mapping would remain a key strategy under his leadership. He urged youths to avoid criminal activities like kidnapping, describing it as a destructive path leading to imprisonment or worse.

“We are aware of the prevalent crimes and their hotspots, and we will dominate these areas to ensure that citizens can sleep peacefully. Our officers are positioned at state boundaries to prevent the influx of criminals, and anyone caught will face the full force of the law,” Eribo said.

He emphasized that law-abiding citizens are free to live anywhere in the country without fear, adding that a joint task force comprising security agencies and civilians would be set up to address issues such as criminal infiltration and farmer-herder conflicts.

Acknowledging the efforts of his predecessors, the CP assured residents that he would build on their achievements. “Governance is a continuum, and we will enhance what we have met on the ground with the help of sister agencies and community collaboration,” he said.

Eribo praised the state government’s unwavering support for security operations and encouraged youths to take advantage of development programs aimed at improving their lives. “The roots of many security issues stem from the youths. However, the government has provided several beneficial initiatives to empower them, and I urge the youths to embrace these opportunities,” he concluded.
