Edo Election Tribunal: Security Lockdown As APC Seeks Adjournment Amid PDP Witnesses’ Arrival
By Fly Cable News
Tensions are running high at the Edo State High Court today, with security agents surrounding the premises due to credible intelligence suggesting a potential attack on the Edo Election Tribunal.
The situation became even more chaotic when thugs accompanying Philip Shaibu, the former deputy governor, were barred from entering the court premises.
To maintain order, the court has enforced strict access controls, only allowing petitioners, witnesses, lawyers, and accredited members of the press to enter.
Meanwhile, APC lawyers are employing delay tactics, requesting an adjournment as PDP witnesses arrive at the court. They claim they need more time to review the list of witnesses.
This development comes as the tribunal hears petitions challenging the declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner of the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State.
The PDP and six other political parties are contesting the results, with the PDP seeking to have its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, declared the winner.
