A yet-to-be-identified driver struck two schoolgirls along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Monday, leaving one dead and the other injured.

According to Lagos police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, the driver was speeding on the BRT lane near Ogundare bus stop when he hit the 12- and 15-year-old siblings.

The victims were rushed to Orile Agege General Hospital, where the younger sister succumbed to her injuries. The surviving sibling was later transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for further treatment.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare M. Jimoh, has assured the public of a thorough investigation and urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations. He also expressed condolences to the bereaved family, vowing that justice would be served.
