Rehabilitation Work Begins on Ifako Bridge.

The Ifako Expansion Joint Bridge in Gbagada has officially entered a major rehabilitation phase, prompting partial closure and traffic diversions along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

To minimize disruptions, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed its officers to manage the traffic flow and assist motorists navigating the affected sections.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu on Transportation, Mr. Sola Giwa, the repair work is critical to reinforcing the bridge’s structure and ensuring its long-term safety and functionality.

The rehabilitation is scheduled to last fourteen weeks and will be executed in two phases. The inbound Alapere section is the first to be closed — from June 28th to August 16th, after which the inbound Oworonshoki section will undergo repairs from August 16th to October 5th.

Motorists have been advised to obey diversion signs, remain patient, and cooperate with LASTMA officials to avoid gridlock and ensure the safety of all road users.

The state government says the upgrade is part of a broader infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing road safety and easing mobility across the state.
