PDP Appoints New Chairman in Anambra
Mr. Chidi Chidebe was elected as the new Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra during a congress held at the Women Development Centre in Awka on Thursday.
Chidebe, who previously served as the PDP Youth Leader in Anambra, received 1,080 votes, defeating Amechi Onowu, who garnered 960 votes.
Charles Anierobi was chosen as Deputy Chairman, while Mr. Ebele Onunkwo was appointed as the party’s Secretary.
Ifeanyi Ossai, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State and Chairman of the Anambra PDP Congress Committee, encouraged the new Chairman to focus on rebuilding, restoring, and reconciling with all dissatisfied party members in the state.
Ossai emphasized the importance of unity in Anambra for the party’s success and urged the new leadership to collaborate with those who ran for office but did not win.
“I assured PDP members in Anambra last week that the congress would be conducted freely, fairly, and transparently, and I am pleased to see that commitment fulfilled,” he stated.
