Equatorial Guinea Govt Fires ANIF Boss Baltasar Engonga Amid Scandal, First Lady Reacts.

The government of Equatorial Guinea has dismissed Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), following the leak of explicit videos online.

According to reports from Real Equatorial Guinea, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo ordered Engonga’s removal after videos surfaced showing him in intimate encounters with prominent women, sparking public outrage.

A presidential decree, No. 118/2024, issued on November 4, cited Engonga’s alleged misconduct and personal behavior as reasons for his dismissal, describing his actions as incompatible with his official role.

The scandal gained traction after nearly 400 explicit videos of Engonga with high-profile women, including relatives, were leaked to social media, prompting widespread condemnation.

Equatorial Guinea’s First Lady, Constancia Mangue Obiang, expressed her disgust over the situation and called for immediate government action. During a meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue, Mrs. Obiang emphasized the need to protect the dignity and reputation of Equatoguinean women, who have made significant strides in gender equality.

The First Lady’s office issued a statement condemning the scandal, underscoring the government’s commitment to safeguarding women’s rights and ensuring that such incidents do not tarnish the nation’s image.
