RCCG Donates Food, Clothing to 2,000 Vulnerable Abuja Residents

By Fly Cable News

On Sunday, the Everlasting Arms Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Garki, Abuja, distributed food items, clothing, and shoes to 2,000 vulnerable residents as part of their annual “Tabitha Tent” program. Established in 2007, this humanitarian initiative aims to provide essential support to the less fortunate during the holiday season.

Beneficiaries of the program expressed their gratitude, highlighting the impact of the donations on their lives. One recipient, Mr. Gonet Jato, thanked the church for providing food supplies, including rice and beans, which would help sustain his family during the Christmas period. He also urged the government to address the struggles of the poor in the country.

Ms. Happiness Jacob, another beneficiary, praised the church for the gifts she received, which included clothing and food items. She called on the government to assist the impoverished, especially during the holiday season, as many are suffering from hunger.

Ms. Victoria Ola also expressed her thanks, praying for God’s blessings on those who made the donations possible. She urged the government to support similar initiatives to help even more people in need.

Pastor Everistus Azodo, the parish pastor, highlighted the lack of a functional social safety net in Nigeria, noting that many advanced countries have welfare systems to support the poor. He encouraged Nigerians to step in and help, as the government alone cannot address all the challenges.

The church’s efforts also include a skill acquisition program to equip vulnerable individuals with practical skills to improve their livelihoods. One of the program coordinators, Mrs. Modupe Ogundimu, acknowledged the contributions of all donors and supporters, emphasizing the importance of providing both material support and opportunities for self-sufficiency.
