OOU Transport Students Visit Lagos Blue Line to Deepen Rail System Understanding

Students from the Department of Transport at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ogun State, today embarked on an educational visit to the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line Marina station, aimed at deepening their understanding of Lagos’s evolving rail system.

The visiting students, accompanied by their lecturers, Dr. Bashir Adisa Raji (HOD), Taiwo K.Alli and Dr. Adeolu Dina were warmly received by Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi, Head of Corporate Communication at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).

Mr. Ojelabi delivered a comprehensive lecture, detailing the visionary goals, current operational realities, and future projections for the Lagos rail network.

During his address, Mr. Ojelabi explained the critical role of Ogun State within the larger Lagos Metropolitan Area, explaining that three key rail lines – the Purple, Red, and Yellow lines – are designed to originate from Ogun State, highlighting the interconnectedness and regional benefits of the plan.

The students and their lecturers expressed immense gratitude for the insightful lecture and the valuable learning experience. They extended their appreciation to the Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the management of LAMATA led by Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, for their warm reception and approval of the visit, which provided practical exposure to a live rail operation.
