ANSEC Approves N4.4M for Supply & Installation of Fire-fighting Equipment for College of Nursing Science, Umueze-Isuofia

As part of the reforms in the educational system in Anambra, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has approved N443,408,923.03 for the supply and installation of fire-fighting equipment for the College of Nursing Science, Umueze-Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area.

The State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that the Council made the decision at the 23rd ANSEC meeting held at the new government house named the Light House, Awka, on Monday, 17th November 2025.

Mefor asserted that the Council also called for university autonomy in choosing vice chancellors. The Council also welcomed the recently appointed Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie, wishing him an eventful term.

This stems from Governor Soludo’s advancement of the educational sector, where he has made a great impact.

Recently, ANSEC agreed to rehabilitate more schools to improve the educational standard of the state, stating that public schools that had not received enough attention would now receive it.

Governor Soludo’s government has enhanced learning in schools with the procurement of smart boards in place of the approved interactive boards and tablets for teachers in the 22 smart schools across the state, coupled with the reconstruction of Boy’s Secondary School, Uga.

The governor’s free education policy has been extended up to Senior Secondary School Year 3 (SS3), and the state has recruited an additional 3,115 teachers, increasing the number to 8,115.

He has equipped over 60 secondary school laboratories with the required Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) equipment, and increased the operational budgets for primary and secondary schools to ensure they deliver the quality education promised.

The governor’s regeneration impact has been felt in the Uli campus of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Ihiala Local Government Area, where he restored electricity to the institution after 21 years of blackout, with the provision of free internet access.

He has also built a state-of-the-art trauma centre at the COOU Teaching Hospital, Amaku- Awka, the first state-owned facility in the Southeast to enhance healthcare for trauma patients.
