In The North, I Don’t Think Tinubu Would Have 20 Per Cent Of The Vote In 2027 And He Knows It—Dr. Pearse

By Fly Cable News

Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a public affairs analyst and convener of Reset Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has warned that President Bola Tinubu may face serious challenges in northern Nigeria during the upcoming elections, stating that Tinubu is unlikely to win even 20 percent of the votes in the region.

‎He noted that the president is aware of his limited support in the north, Tinubu’s policies and leadership style have deepened divisions across the country.

‎He stated that a key point of concern is Tinubu’s tax policies, most institutions in northern Nigeria did not agree with these policies, the president also never took the time to explain the measures to the public, this has contributed to widespread disapproval of his administration in the region.

‎The analyst stated that these challenges are not only political but also social, many people in the north feel left out of decision-making and see the policies as favoring certain groups, this perception makes it harder for Tinubu to gain trust and votes.

‎He highlighted that the north has its own political dynamics and priorities, leaders and communities in the region tend to support candidates and policies that directly address their needs, Tinubu’s failure to communicate his tax policies effectively has weakened his chances of gaining northern support.

‎He suggested that even with strong backing in other parts of Nigeria, Tinubu cannot assume victory in the north, the upcoming elections may be shaped as much by regional discontent as by national popularity.

‎”In the north, I don’t think that Tinubu would have 20 per cent of the vote. And he knows it. He has divided this country like never before. Don’t forget that there’s hardly any institution in the north that agreed with his tax policies. And he never bothered to explain,” he said.
