In an interview with the Media on the 30th of march 2026, Dr Majeed Dahiru, a public affairs analyst, stated that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is now the leader of the PDP. He made this statement after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized the Wike-backed PDP national convention
Dahiru stated that Wike will decide who becomes governorship candidates across the 36 states on the PDP platform. He added that Wike will also determine who gets PDP tickets to contest for various seats such as senator, House of Representatives, and even councillor.
Dahiru said the PDP is now firmly under Wike’s control unless the Supreme Court nullifies the convention
In Dahiru’s words: “Anybody that Wike curses is cursed. So everything now revolves around Wike, Wike will decide who will be governor across the 36 states of the federation on the platform of the PDP.
Wike will decide senators and House of Reps members, Wike will decide councillors. In fact, this party is now in the firm grip of Wike.
