Bauchi Police Arrest Two JSS 3 Students for Alleged Theft of 100 Phones

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two 15-year-old students from Bakari Dukku Comprehensive Secondary School in connection with a robbery at a mobile phone shop in Wunti Market, Bauchi metropolis.

The suspects are accused of stealing 100 mobile phones, 75 MP4 players, 30 cell phone batteries, 50 external memory cards, and a Bluetooth headset. Their arrest followed an investigation by the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit, which was initiated after the shop owner reported the theft.

According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on October 1, 2024. CSP Kim Albert led the ORP team in the investigation under the direction of Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa.

The suspects, identified as Hamza Sadiq and Adamu Ahmadu, allegedly confessed to taking the shop’s key and stealing items while the owner was away. They reportedly sold the stolen goods at discounted prices, using the proceeds to purchase personal items such as clothes, food, and a smartphone.

Police have recovered 21 mobile phones, 5 MP4 players, a mobile phone charger, and a metal key from the suspects, with ongoing efforts to recover the remaining stolen items. Following the investigation, the teenagers are expected to be placed in a rehabilitation facility.
