Cooking Gas Prices Surge in September, Reaching N6,699.63

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reports that the average price of 5kg of cooking gas rose from N6,430.02 in August to N6,699.63 in September 2024, marking a 4.19% month-on-month increase and a significant 59.90% increase year-on-year.

State analyses revealed that Rivers State had the highest average price at N7,285.71, while Kebbi had the lowest at N5,950.00. Regionally, the North-East recorded the highest average price at N6,929.02, with the North-West having the lowest at N6,382.30.

Additionally, the average price for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder rose by 4.89% from August to September, reaching N16,313.43. The NBS also noted increases in kerosene prices, with the average price per litre rising to N1,957.44 and the average price per gallon reaching N6,818.10.
