Human Right Lawyer, Falana Visits Lagos Neighborhood Corp Boss Ifalade

The renowned social critic and human right Lawyer Mr. Femi Falana SAN has commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his efforts at keeping Lagos safer and more secured.
Mr Falana said that his visit to the Headquarters of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency at Bolade-Oshodi was an eye opener that gave him the opportunity to see what the Lagos State Government via the Agency is doing in the area of community Policing.
He said he is impressed with what he saw and promised to support the Agency in its bid to get better, while he advised the Agency to improve its media presence in order to carry the people along and informed about its contributions to making Lagos safe for everybody.
He advised the Agency to ensure a robust recruitment process that will ensure that only people with credible and traceable backgrounds are employed to protect the Corps from infiltration and preserve its integrity.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Agency, Prince Dr Ifalade Oyekan fsin welcomed the revered human right activist to the Agency, taking him through some of the efforts of the Agency in the past.
Oyekan said, upon his appointment, he and his management team developed a roadmap on how to achieve the mandate of the Governor to rebrand the Agency and prepare it to be ready for State Police within two years.
He said the roadmap has informed the various innovations seen in the agency so far and that there is still more to come as the agency continues to mix advanced human resources and technology for a prime organization that can stand it’s own among it’s peers.
The GM said the strength of the Agency is in it’s spread and grassroot knowledge orchestrated by the residence of the officers in their localities of operations with the aid of advance technologies. He also said the Agency has widened it’s scope of operations with the establishment of the Marine corps, the Forest Rangers and the forensic unit among others.
Oyekan said the Agency has developed GPRS capabilities and other monitoring mechanisms to ensure that it’s Corps Officers deliver value for money, especially as the Government recently raised the minimum wage of public officers in the State.
He also told the visitor that the Agency has played down on the use of lethal weapons in order to preserve its civility and keep the confidence of the population of Lagos.
Ifalade Oyekan also conducted Mr Falana around the Agency facilities including the Headquarters of the Anti- Human trafficking taskforce attached to the LNSA, the situation room with real-time reporting capabilities and others areas of interest.
Mr Falana was also decorated as an Ambassador of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency.
