Court remands Ooni’s ex-Queen, Oriyomi Hamzat, others at Agodi Correctional facility

An Ibadan Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi has ordered the remand of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife; Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM; and Bashorun Islamic High School Principal, Fasasi Abdulahi, at the Agodi Correctional Facility.
According to reports, the ruling is pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
They were arraigned on Tuesday before Chief Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan, on a four-count charge of conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities.
The court premises witnessed tension as supporters of Hamzat gathered, but heavy security presence ensured order.
The Ooni’s ex-Queen’s NGO was the organizer of a funfare in which 35 children were killed and many injured caused by a stampede.
