The Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Babatunde Diya, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing residents’ well-being through improved healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.

As part of his efforts to expand healthcare access, Diya announced plans to enrol 2,000 residents in a health insurance scheme under the ‘Iwosan Tunde’ initiative.

Speaking on Wednesday during the celebration of his first 100 days in office, he emphasized his commitment to complementing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s governance efforts at the grassroots level.

The event, held at Mobalufon Hall, featured free medical services such as malaria, hypertension, and blood sugar screenings, with medications provided to beneficiaries.

Diya highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, including the provision of a new borehole in Ikosa, partnerships to support 300 elderly residents, the revitalization of healthcare centers, and the launch of waste-to-wealth initiatives.

“Our goal is to screen 5,000 residents and enrol at least 2,000 of them in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme under the Ministry of Health,” he stated.

He further assured that quality healthcare remains a top priority, ensuring that all Odogbolu residents have access to essential medical services.

Community Leaders and Officials Commend Initiative

The Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Sikiru Adefuwape, along with other traditional rulers, praised Diya’s initiatives and urged him to remain committed to the local government’s development.

Dennis Ogunnaike, Special Assistant on Youth Development and Technology Innovation to Governor Abiodun, described the ‘Iwosan Tunde’ initiative as a strategic response to the healthcare challenges in the area.

“When the chairman took office, he set up a team to assess all 15 wards, identifying critical gaps and areas requiring urgent intervention. This has led to several healthcare initiatives aligned with Governor Abiodun’s ISEYA agenda,” Ogunnaike noted.

He also commended Diya’s leadership style, describing it as dynamic and people-oriented.

“To be honest, the chairman has taken a youthful and proactive approach to governance. He has engaged stakeholders, identified key challenges, and is taking decisive action. His leadership is truly innovative,” he added.
