PDP BoT Expresses Concerns About ‘Contentious’ State Congresses
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concerns regarding the recent state congresses held by the party’s national leadership.
During the 78th meeting of the party’s advisory body in Abuja on Thursday, Adolphus Wabara, the BoT chairman and former Senate President, voiced these worries.
Wabara highlighted that the irregularities noted during the congresses are concerning and require immediate action from the party’s national working committee (NWC). He stressed the need to correct any deviations from PDP guidelines and ensure that all future processes comply with established protocols.
He remarked, “The Board of Trustees has received reports indicating that some states did not conduct their congresses in strict adherence to our party’s guidelines. In some instances, the congresses did not occur as scheduled.
“These issues are quite serious, and it is crucial that we address them without delay. We are calling on the National Working Committee to act swiftly to resolve these matters. It is essential to rectify any breaches of PDP guidelines, and for those congresses that did not take place, new dates should be established to ensure that all party members have a fair and transparent opportunity to participate in the democratic process.”
