Worship Centres, Night Clubs, Others to Obtain Noise Pollution Permits

The Lagos State Government says it is implementing a zero tolerance for noise pollution in the state.
Thus, it has put in place stricter measures against business operators and religious institutions to monitor their noise levels.
They are now expected to obtain permits for gatherings involving amplified sound across.
Under the policy, event centres, nightclubs, lounges, bars, and worship centres will have to obtain noise pollution permits for the gathering.
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab said in a statement that the regulations are to safeguard residents’ health and well-being during the festive season and beyond.
He said that a Special Task Force on Noise Pollution, under the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, has been set up to oversee compliance, arrest offenders, and prosecute violators of noise regulations.
